The legal status of Western Sahara is clearly and explicitly defined, Western Sahara and Morocco are separate and distinct countries (Ministry of Information)

Shahid Al-Hafed August 21, 2022 (SPS) - The Ministry of Information confirmed, in a response to the speech of the King of Morocco, that the legal status of Western Sahara is clearly and explicitly defined, and the resolutions of the United Nations, the African Union, the European Union, the International Court of Justice, the European Court of Justice and many others are unambiguous, considering that Western Sahara and the Kingdom of Morocco are two separate and distinct countries.
The Ministry of Information said in a statement, that the intransigent speech of the King of Morocco aims to put a new stumbling block in the way of international efforts aimed at completing the decolonization of the last colony in Africa.
The statement confirmed that the legal status of Western Sahara is clearly and explicitly defined by all international resolutions which confirm that Western Sahara and the Kingdom of Morocco are separate and distinct countries, adding that the abject failure of the Moroccan occupation state, over more than four decades, to legitimize its illegitimate and brutal military occupation, has caused a state of tension and nervousness.
The Ministry of Information explained that this tendency towards escalation expressed in the intransigent speech of the King of Morocco has become a constant indicator used whenever the internal situation in the Kingdom reaches an advanced stage of tension. As a result, the Moroccan regime carries out open fallacies, blatant lies and malicious propaganda.
It also mentioned that the countries and peoples of the region, especially the Moroccan people, will never accept this expansionist, aggressive and arrogant approach of the Moroccan regime, which has become an imminent threat to the region and the world.
The statement stressed that the Moroccan presence in Western Sahara is an illegitimate military occupation, and like all colonial cases throughout history, the fate of the occupation is to come to an end.
The statement of the Ministry of Information concluded that the Sahrawi people, under the leadership of their only legitimate representative, the Polisario Front, will continue their war of liberation with determination and steadfastness, by all legitimate means, foremost of which is the armed struggle, until they achieve their legitimate goals of completing the sovereignty of their state over its entire national territory, no matter what it requires.
