Conclusion of UESARIO 4th Congress: Role of students in struggle for liberation of Western Sahara emphasized

El Aaiun (refugee camps), 8 August 2022 (SPS) - The work of the 4th Congress of the Students Union of Saguia el Hamra and Rio de Oro (UESARIO) which ended Monday in the Sahrawi refugee camps, stressed the role of students in the struggle for liberation and construction.
The closing ceremony of the congress of Martyr Bakar Lagdaf Abeih, held under the theme "Sahrawi Students ... Force for Liberation and Construction" was chaired by the President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, in the presence of members of the National Secretariat and the government.
The President of the Republic highlighted the sacrifices and achievements made by the fighters of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA), saluting the heroes of the Liberation Army and the intifadha for independence, as well as the incarcerated students and all Sahrawi prisoners.
President Ghali welcomed the participation of the delegations to the congress, hailing the 5th International Conference of Students for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, "headed by the delegation of Algeria, country of one and a half million martyrs".
Mr. Ghali also welcomed the African Union (AU), calling for an end to the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara and thus "complete the decolonization process in Africa.
The 4th Congress of the Students Union of Saguia el Hamra and Rio de Oro (UESARIO) elected Khalihana Al-Ghazwani as the Secretary-General of the Union for a new four-year term.  The Congress also elected an Executive Office, it should be recalled.
