BNF stands in solidarity with the Saharawi people and condemns Moroccan occupation

Gaborone (Botswana) 26 July 2022 (SPS)- The National Elective Congress of Botswana National Front (BNF) expressed its resolution to continue condemning the Moroccan occupation of parts of Western Sahara, and supports Saharawi people’s right to self-determination.
The Congress held last 16 to 19 July, adopted a resolution in which it “continues to condemn the colonisation of the peoples of the Republic of Western Sahara by Morocco and stand with the oppressed masses therein in their struggle for political and economic self-determination.”
The Congress to which the Ambassador of the Saharawi Republic, H.E. Malainin Mohamed, was invited as guest last 17 July, listened to various speakers including the Saharawi diplomat.

In his speech Malainin Mohamed stressed that BNF leadership and militants have an obligation of solidarity with their brothers and sister in Western Sahara and a duty of contributing to the decolonization of the last colony in Africa.
He recalled the audience that the struggle of the Saharawi people for their freedom and independence is not the duty of Saharawis alone. It is the responsibility of all Africans and all peace lovers worldwide he said.
During the 17th July session of the Congress, the Saharawi Ambassador had had the opportunity to meet the leader of opposition in Botswana, Mr. Duma Boko, and various other members of BNF Leadership, in addition to representatives of other political parties, Trade Unions and civil society.
Botswana National Front (BNF) is a social democratic political party in Botswana. It has been the main opposition party in Botswana since the 1969 elections. Its President, Duma Boko, is also the President of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) an opposition coalition. (SPS)
