Occupied El Aaiun, 16 April 2022 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Body against the Moroccan occupation (ISACOM) has condemned "in the strongest terms" the barbaric assault of the young Sahrawi Abdelmounaim Ennassiri committed by elements of the Moroccan police in the occupied city of Smara, calling on the international community to "put an end to the repressive practices of the Moroccan occupation state.
"The young Saharawi Abdelmounaim Ennassiri was attacked by elements of the Moroccan police on April 13, 2022 in the occupied city of Smara for no reason, except the hatred and resentment that the Moroccan repressive organs carry to the children of the Saharawi people," ISACOM said in a statement.
"While walking in the city of Smara, the young Saharawi was arrested by a group of individuals under the Moroccan security service, who punched and kicked him several times without having any mercy on him, leaving him unconscious on the ground. Once evacuated to the hospital, the victim suffered from several bruises and injuries to the face, stomach and back," as well as internal bleeding, the Body said in its document.
"The Moroccan occupation authorities denied having committed this aggression, blaming it on unidentified individuals," it added.
Reacting to this despicable act, continues ISACOM, "the family of the victim is observing an open sit-in since April 13, demanding the opening of an investigation into this criminal attack and the prosecution of those responsible.
ISACOM strongly condemned this cowardly attack on young Abdelmounaim, while expressing its full solidarity with his family.
The Saharawi body reiterated its appeal to the international community, particularly the United Nations, to intervene for the protection of Saharawi civilians in the occupied territories and put an end to the repressive practices of the Moroccan regime.
