Prime Minister receives Personal Envoy for Western Sahara Staffan de Mistura

Shahid Al-Hafed, 15 January 2022 (SPS) -  Prime Minister, Bushraya Hamoudi Bayoun, received Saturday the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, at the guest house in Shahid Al-Hafed, Sahrawi refugee camps.
The meeting took place in the presence of Bashir Mustafa, Minister Counsellor in Charge of Political Affairs at the Presidency of Republic, Sidi Mohamed Omar, Representative of the Polisario Front at the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO, Salek Sghayer, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Staffan de Mistura, accompanied by a UN delegation, arrived Saturday in the Sahrawi refugee camps in Smara, as part of his first tour in the region since his appointment last November.
The UN personal envoy will meet for two days with Sahrawi leaders and listen to their views on the issue of resuming negotiations with Morocco as parties to the conflict, and the means of a constructive relaunch of the political process in Western Sahara, after the return to war.
Mr. Staffan de Mistura had begun, Thursday, his visit to the region from Rabat, it should be recalled.
