Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire), July 08, 2021 (SPS) - The Saharawi Foreign Minister, Mr. Mohamed Salem Uld Salek, stated that “the complicity of some permanent members of the Security Council has weakened the actions of the UN to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara and has caused this international body to lose credibility for the Saharawi people ”.
In an interview with the Ivorian newspaper "Dernière Heure" made this Wednesday, Mr. Uld Salek said that "the action of the United Nations has been fundamentally weakened due to the complicity of some permanent members of the Security Council who," instead to establish peace, they contributed to the return of the war, which represents a serious issue for the region. "
SADR Foreign Minister attributed the current situation, characterized by stagnation and the return of the war, to the “behavior of Morocco, which refuses to comply with its obligations and the complicity of some countries within the Security Council, causing the United Nations to regrettably lose its credibility in the eye of the Sahrawi people, who trusted it so much and chose the path of peace and democratic vote through a referendum of self-determination”.
