Cs demands EU Commission to stop agricultural products importation from occupied Western Sahara

Submitted on

Brussels, July 08, 2021 (SPS) - Jordi Cañas EUMEP has denounced that the illegal practices of Morocco with “the sale of tomatoes from Western Sahara camouflaged as Moroccans violate numerous European laws and the EU-Morocco Association Agreement, which establish that products that arrive in Europe are required to have a label indicating the origin of their production ”
“In this way”, adds Jordi Cañas, “it is impossible for the European consumer to know the real origin of the products, in a clear violation of the Union labeling rules and the signed agreements, also generating unfair competition with the European producers that is sinking tomato production in producing countries like Spain.
