A new dynamic to relaunch the process of decolonization of Western Sahara

Submitted on

Algiers, 26 May 2021 (SPS) - African peoples and the whole world commemorate "World Africa Day" on Tuesday, coinciding with the anniversary of the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) (African Union currently) in very exceptional circumstances marked by a new dynamic and the great impetus which benefited the Sahrawi cause, the last colony in Africa.
Each year, the topics discussed during this event shed light on the efforts of African countries aimed at achieving the strategic objectives of the African Union (AU), namely decolonization, the settlement of armed conflicts and the preservation of the peace.
This World Africa Day cannot be celebrated without mentioning the situation in Western Sahara, a founding state and an active member of the AU, whose territories are being violated by a neighboring African state which, by signing the constitutive act of the AU, had undertaken to respect the sovereignty and the borders of its States, but it did not respect its commitments.
