Fuerteventura Town Council reaffirms its solidarity with Saharawi people just struggle

Canary Islands, May 25, 2021 (SPS) - The president of the Town Council of Fuerteventura, Sergio Lloret López, received today, Tuesday, May 25, the delegate of the Frente POLISARIO in the Canary Islands, Hamdi Mansor, on a visit made to shed light on the current situation of Western Sahara with the island institution and strengthen collaboration for future projects to support the Saharawi people. The first vice president, Lola García, the Minister of Education and Youth, María Saavedra, as well as the delegate of the Saharawi People in Fuerteventura, Larbi Mohamed, also participated in the meeting.
For the Island it is essential to strengthen support for the Saharawi people. During the meeting the content of humanitarian aid projects that are subscribed by the Development Cooperation area of ​​the Town Council, led by Jonathan Gil, was addressed.
For his part, Mansor thanked the warm and fraternal reception by the Town Council and Fuerteventura, and expressed his desire to maintain this cooperation with future awareness programs and humanitarian aid.
The delegate of the Frente POLISARIO also highlighted the "serious situation that the Saharawi people have suffered for forty years and that has intensified with the end of the ceasefire last November." SPS
