Moscow, 9 April 2021 (SPS) - Head of Sahrawi diplomacy, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, said Thursday that the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) will start the procedure to get a full membership at the UN, calling on "free states" to support the Sahrawi people in its struggle for independence.
"The fact that the request requires the approval of the Security Council and the agreement of its five permanent members puts them before their political, moral and historical responsibilities," Ould Salek told Sputnik.
"Whoever vetoes the accession of the SADR to the UN as a member with the same rights and duties as all other countries will assume before the world the grave responsibility of continuing the war," warned the head of Sahrawi diplomacy.
The Sahrawi minister, recalled on the occasion that the Sahrawi Republic was proclaimed following the withdrawal of Spain after a national liberation war. (SPS)
