Lesotho Prime Minister to the Saharawi President: We will continue the fight to release Saharawi people from colonialism and occupation

Maseru (Kingdom of Lesotho) 01 March 2021 (SPS)- Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Dr. Moeketsi Majoro, congratulated the President of the Saharawi Republic and Secretary General of Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, on the occasion of the celebration by the Saharawi people of the 45th Anniversary of the Saharawi Republic last Saturday, stressing that the struggle for the release of Saharawis from colonialism and occupation will continue.


“The Government and people of the Kingdom of Lesotho join me, upon your celebration of your National Day, in congratulating and sending warm and fraternal greetings to you Mr. President, and to the government and peace-loving people of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic,” Dr. Majoro wrote.


He further considered that this celebration “reminds us all that there is still much to do, and it gives us strength and confidence to continue fighting for the ultimate UN-led referendum, which shall release the Saharawi people from the shackles of colonialism, resulting from the occupation of their lands by Morocco.”


He also stressed his desire to “pledge my firm commitment and that of the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho to re-affirm Lesotho’s principled stance in support of the inalienable right of the people of Western Sahara to chart out and determine their own destiny in accordance with the principles of international law and diplomacy and will maintain our steadfast and continuing support towards realization of their legitimate aspiration.” (SPS)
