Shaheed Al-Hafed (SADR), 14 November 2020 (SPS) - Mr. Khatri Adouh, a member of the National Secretariat in charge of the Political Organization Secretariat and head of the negotiating delegation, received on Friday a phone call from Mr. António Guterres, UN Secretary-General, at the request of the latter.
The phone call is part of the contacts made by the UN Secretary-General with the two parties to the conflict, the Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco, in order to calm the situation resulting from the military escalation of the Moroccan occupation state in the Guerguerat region and the aggressive act carried out by its forces on the Sahrawi territory.
In this context, the UN Secretary-General conveyed to Mr. Brahim Ghali, the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, the United Nations' deep preoccupation with the consequences of the tense situation in the Guerguerat region on the future of the peace process sponsored by the United Nations in Western Sahara.
For his part, Mr. Khatri Adouh stressed the position of the Sahrawi party, which had been expressed on several occasions through letters sent by the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front to the UN Secretary-General and the Security Council, including the letter he sent recently, which explains the position of the Polisario Front on the root causes of the tension and what the United Nations Secretariat and the Security Council should do in this regard.
