Liechtenstein calls for realization of self-determination, appointment of Personal Envoy on Western Sahara

New York (UN), 16 October 2020 (SPS) - Deputy Permanent Representative of Liechtenstein to the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Georg Sparber, has called for the realization of self-determination of the Sahrawi people, lamenting that there has been no Personal Envoy on Western Sahara for over a year.

In his statement before the United Nations General Assembly Fourth Committee (Special Political and Decolonization), the Deputy Permanent Representative stressed that Liechtenstein remains ready to work with any and all states seeking sustainable conflict resolution, an end to colonialism, and the realization of self-determination.

He called on states to work with the UN in good faith to realize existing promises of self-determination. (SPS)
