International Spanish Educational Cinema Festival kicks off in Sahrawi embassy in Havana

Havana, 2 February 2020 (SPS) - The organizers of the International Festival of the Spanish Educational Cinema has chosen the Sahrawi embassy in the Cuban capital, Havana, to kick off this event, marked by the presence of Sahrawi ambassador Malainin who emphasized the role of the cinema to convey the peoples’ voice, welcoming the gesture of solidarity with the fight of the Sahrawi people and their cause.
The International Festival kicked off in the presence of a large number of Cuban and Spanish film directors as well as members of the Sahrawi embassy in Cuba.
In his speech, head of the aforementioned festival Giuseppe Ripoll announced that the festival’s next edition will be organized at the Sahrawi refugee camps in Smara, in solidarity with the Sahrawi people and their cause.
In a speech read by the Sahrawi diplomat Mohamed Ali Salem, the Sahrawi embassy affirmed that the “cinema is a noble message of solidarity with the world’s peoples.”
The Sahrawi embassy also broached the Sahrawi people’s struggle through various legitimate means to snatch their right to freedom and independence. (SPS)
