Bir-Lahlou, August 24, 2019 (SPS) -  Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed-Salem Ould Salek, has sent a congratulatory message to his Nigerian counterpart, H.E Geoffrey Jideofor Kwusike Onyeama, on the renewal of his appointment by H.E President Muhammadu Buhari, as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria.
“On this great occasion, I would like to offer you, on my personal name and behalf of the Sahrawi Government, my most sincere congratulations,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“I seize this opportunity, your Excellency, to draw your attention to the dangerous current situation in the occupied part of the Sahrawi Republic. Morocco is refusing to respect the international and African laws and principles, the UN is unable to move forward with the implementation of the international legality because of the obstacles erected by French protection of Moroccan illegal occupation, and the region will likely enter a new phase of violent confrontations if nothing is done to make things right.”
“Your Excellency’s background and knowledge in law gives you the necessary competence to appreciate the danger of lack of respect of the African Constitutive Act by Morocco. However, Morocco must respect its international borders and respect his neighbour’s borders. Its attempt to forcibly change these established borders is giving a bad example to many others who don’t mind destroying our unity, shared values and aspirations.”
“SADR and Nigeria share common values, common aspiration and a desire to build a common future for all African Nations. And I am convinced that during your new term we will further strengthen our partnership and collaboration in order to find solutions to the crises and challenges we are facing as Africans not only in the occupied parts of the Sahrawi Republic but also in the continent at large.”
“I am also confident that our cooperation will continue in the same spirit of trust, dialogue and respect, and I want to assure you of my commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship between both our countries,” added the Minister of Foreign Affairs. (SPS)
