Algiers, July 24, 2019 (SPS) - Head of Sahrawi diplomacy Mohamed Salem Ould Salek affirmed that the acts of violence perpetrated by Morocco in occupied Sahrawi territories confirm the confusion of the Moroccan occupier, adding that arms and military don’t weaken the resistance of the Sahrawi people and that the Sahrawi side has shown patience and wisdom when dealing with the United Nations.
In a press conference held Tuesday at the headquarters of the embassy of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in Algiers, in the presence of the Sahrawi ambassador to Algiers Abdelkader Taleb Omar, Ould Salek said that the international community doesn’t recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara and the Sahrawi people.
He warned against “Morocco’s contempt for the international legality, trampling on the dignity of the Sahrawi people and humiliation of Sahrawi women in the occupied cities, the imprisonment of Sahrawi citizens and peaceful activists in the Moroccan jails, in addition to the rejection of plan signed after 16 years of war,” adding that “the ball remains in the court of the international community and particularly the Security Council.”
In this respect, Ould Salek said that “Morocco’s return to the African Union that it conditioned by the expulsion of SADR…. But after 33 years of vain attempts, backed by France, noting that “Morocco has always sit on the same table alongside Western Sahara at the African and international levels, given that AU is a partner of the European Union (EU) and several other countries.SPS
