President of Republic begins official visit to Cuba

Havana, December 3, 2018 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, arrived Sunday evening in the Republic of Cuba for a three-day official visit, during which he will meet his Cuban counterpart and the highest authorities of this country.

The President of the Republic was received by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of CubaRogelio Sierra Diaz, accompanied by senior officials of the Cuban Government and the Ambassador of Cuba to the Sahrawi Republic, Clara Bolido.

On the agenda of the visit of the President of the Republic, official talks with the Cuban authorities and a visit in tribute to José Martí, the Cuban national hero.

The President of the Republic is accompanied by a delegation composed of Mansour Omar, Minister Delegate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Latin America, Malainin Tghana, Ambassador to Cuba, and Abdati Breika, Counselor to the Presidency of the Republic.

Cuba and the Saharawi Republic have been establishing diplomatic relations since January 1980 and are bound by cooperation ties, particularly in the fields of health and education.

Thousands of young Sahrawis are trained in Cuba as technicians and specialists in various fields. (SPS)
