French National Assembly hosts establishment conference of the International Parliamentary Network for Support Western Sahara Referendum

Paris, June 21, 2018 (SPS) - Invited by the Study Group on Western Sahara, chaired by French deputy Jean-Paul Lecoq, the French National Assembly will host the first Parliamentary Network Conference on Friday International for the Support of the Referendum in Western Sahara, which springs from the recommendations of the 42nd EUCOCO meeting.
Speaking to the SPS, the Frente POLISARIO representative in France, Oubi Bouchraya, stated that "the organization of the International Parliamentary Conference in France is a clear message to the official authorities to assume their historical responsibilities towards the just struggle of the Saharawi people, to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination and independence. "
The Saharawi diplomat added that the Conference is organized at an "important moment", due to "the coincidence with the expected visit of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Western Sahara, the former German President, Horst Kohler", as well as "the Summit of Heads of State and Government of member countries of the African Union, in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott ".
Oubi Boushraya, stressed that the event is part of the "promotion of parliamentary diplomacy, in order to gather support for the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people, which endorse all resolutions of the UN and international legality."
It is noteworthy that the Conference has the participation of an important Saharawi delegation chaired by the member of the National Secretariat and president of the Sahrawi National Council (Parliament), Jatri Aduh, as well as more than 240 participants from all continents. SPS
