Need for UN Resolution focused on conflict settlement in Western Sahara

Submitted on

New York, April 27, 2018 (SPS) - Negotiations about the draft resolution on occupied Western Sahara, continue Thursday in Security Council where member countries demanded a text oriented towards the political settlement of the conflict.
The text presented by the U.S. has not got any consensus within this UN body.
The US delegation is working on a third version that is likely to be the last one, and details of which will be known this afternoon, sources close to the question told APS.
The vote on the resolution will take place on Friday. The UN Security Council may need to extend the mandate of the mission by six months instead of one year, according to the same sources. However, so far this proposal has not been confirmed. (SPS)
