Western Sahara conflict resolution: POLISARIO hails AU Summit decisions

Chahid El-Hafed (Sahrawi refugee camps) Feb 06, 2018 (SPS)- -The Sahrawi government hailed the decision of the African Union (AU) Summit calling the two parties to the conflict in Western Sahara (Morocco and the Frente POLISARIO) to engage in direct talks. The government reiterated its willingness to re-open negotiations with Morocco to reach just and sustainable peace, said the a communiqué released after the meeting of the permanent Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Frente POLISARIO, chaired by Ibrahim Ghali, President of Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Secretary General of the Frente POLISARIO. 
The Frente POLISARIO also called the Kingdom of Morocco to immediately apply the provisions of the AU Constitutive Act it approved, stressing the Sahrawi government’s readiness to comply with the AU Summit decision.
According to the same source, the meeting of the permanent Bureau focused on the latest developments of the Sahrawi issue and the presentation of an exposé on the 30th AU ordinary Summit held on 28-29 January in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
The Bureau hailed “the key decisions taken at the Summit.”
In this connection, Frente POLISARIO reiterated its support to the efforts made by the UN Secretary General Antonio Guteres and its special envoy, and called for an urgent implementation of the resolution 2351 of the Security Council on the violations of the ceasefire agreement by Morocco in the region of El Guergarat.SPS
