Shahid El-Hafed, November 20, 2017 (SPS) - Sahrawi Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Salem Ould Salek called on Morocco to respect its internationally recognized borders and deal with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and neighbouring countries in mutual respect.
In a statement published on Sunday, Mohamed Ould Salek welcomed SADR’s participation in the 5th AU-EU Partnership Summit, to be held soon in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), affirming that it is a “strategic victory for the Sahrawi State.”
The head of the Sahrawi diplomacy said that this event means that “the illegal military occupation by Morocco of the territories of Western Sahara is without future and will end with the total withdrawal of the occupying forces,” adding that it “confirms that the Sahrawi State will have a place within the United Nations and all the regional and international organizations and bodies.”
Ould Salek said he is convinced that the Moroccan diplomacy has finally understand that “neither the pressure exerted by France at the level of the European Union, nor the disgraceful intervention to the government of the host country of the partnership summit or even the influence of lobbies were able to weaken the position of the Sahrawi State as a national, regional and international reality, enjoying an important support at the Africa and international levels.” (SPS)
