CNSDH demands acceleration of self-determination process for Saharawi people

Algiers, June 21, 2017 (SPS) - the head of the Saharawi National Human Rights Commission, Abba El Haissan has the UN to take responsibility, by accelerating the process of self-determination of Sahrawi people the President of the National Saharan Human Rights Commission. Saharawi people
El Haissan explained the situation of the Sahrawi refugees and the suffering caused by the harsh weather conditions. The presentation is part of a workshop held in Algiers on "refugees and the right of peoples to self-determination," organized by the Algerian National Human Rights Council, in commemoration of World Refugee Day and African Refugee Day.
The Saharawi activist highlighted the alarming humanitarian situation caused by the reduction of humanitarian aid, calling on UN to impose international legality.
The president of the CNSDH spoke about the flagrant violations of human rights of the Saharawi in a context of occupation, affirming that the Moroccan occupation to the territory of the Western Sahara is the denial of all the rights.
The president of the Saharawi National Human Rights Commission highlighted the generosity of Algeria for the reception of the Sahrawi refugees and refugees from other countries, by offering the necessary protection according to the Geneva Convention of 1951.
El Haissan quoted the UN Secretary General's statement of June 3, when he expressed concern about the reduction of food for the Sahrawi refugees because of the lack of funds.
Representatives of human rights organizations, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and lawyers specializing in international law attended the event.
