New York, April 22, 2017 (SPS) -The Polisario Front approved the appointment of German Horst Köhler as a Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General for Western Sahara following the resignation of American Christopher  Ross, announced Representative of Western Sahara at the UN Ahmed Boukhari.
"We officially sent to the United Nations our agreement on the appointment of Horst Köhler," Boukhari told APS, stressing that the Sahrawi party informed the Secretary General it was ready to cooperate with the new UN Envoy of the UN if its appointment is confirmed.
The former German president is expected to succeed to Christopher Ross, who faced several difficulties and hindrances to his mission from Morocco after having declared this country persona non grata in the occupied territories. Morocco has categorically refused the visit of the UN Envoy to revive the UN process, said the UN Secretary General in his last rapport on Western Sahara sent to the Security Council. (SPS)
