Sahrawi Cooperation Minister is received by valencia mayor city

Valencia, March 15, 2017 - (SPS) - Minister of Cooperation, Mr. Bulahi Mohamed Fadel Sid was received on Tuesday by the mayor of the city of Valencia, Joan Ribo accompanied by the Minister of Participation and Cooperation, Manuel Alcaraz . The meeting also included representatives of the Federation of associations of aid to the Saharawi people.
 
Valencia will promote human contact and cultural links with a locality of the Saharawi Arab Republic  Republic (SADR). to this end, the City Council will promote the twinning of these two cities, as announced by Mayor Joan Ribó, after receiving the Minister of Cooperation of the SADR, Mohamed Fadel Sid.
 
 In this meeting the mayor also committed to collaborate with the program Holidays in Peace that allows the reception in Valencian homes of children who live in Saharawi refugee camps. Likewise, the mayor stresses his support for the Saharawi people's claim "which has been waiting for decades to hold a referendum on self-determination."
 
 "The Saharawi people have legitimate rights that we have to defend, and to promote so that they are recognized internationally." This message is the one transmitted by the mayor to the Minister of Cooperation of SADR, who has traveled to Valencia to sensitize the Valencians of that situation.
 
Joan Ribó recalled that "Spain has a historic debt to the Western Sahara, and to the monitoring of the human and political rights of the Saharawis," stressing his desire that the Saharawi cause not be forgotten, but rather, that is included in the political agenda of the Spanish government and of those international structures that have to assert the rights of the Saharawis. "
 
For his part, the Saharawi minister expressed the desire of the Saharawi people "that the efforts of the UN secretary general contribute to a peaceful solution to the conflict, affirming the willingness of Western Sahara. SPS
