UNMS´s SG takes part at economic and political empowerment of women in Africa conference

Abuja, Nigeria, December 01, 2016 (SPS) – the Secretary General of Sahrawi Women Union (UNMS) and Chairwoman of the Gender Commission at ECOSOC, Ms. Fatma Mehdi has participated in the conference on the economic and political empowerment of women in Africa held on Tuesday , In the capital of Nigeria, Abuja.
 
The conference was attended by the Nigerian Minister for Women and Social Affairs (representing the Nigerian President), Ms. Aicha Jumay Hassan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and a diplomatic corps accredited to Nigeria, including the SADR Ambassador, Civil society and women's organizations.
 
During the ceremony, a tribute was paid to women working for the empowerment of women, including the Secretary General of the UNMS for their efforts to raise awareness in favor of women and their struggles for freedom, as in the case of women. Saharawi.
 
Following this event, the chairwoman of the gender commission held a meeting with the heads of the ECOSOC social affairs commission in Nigeria, where they discussed the issues of cooperation between the two commissions. SPS
