European Union respects international law norms in Western Sahara conflict (Federica Mogherini)

Submitted on

Brussels (Belgium), Sept 15, 2016 (SPS) -The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini, said yesterday  that the Commission of the European Union recently corrected the map of Morocco does not include Western Sahara, according to the norms of international law.
In his reply to a question by a member of the European parliament last August, the head of European diplomacy responded that the EU Commission had rectified the map that appeared on the website of the European Union and that included Western Sahara as part of Morocco, stressing that this attitude meets the standards of international law that do not recognize Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara.

In this regard, POLISARIO had highlighted yesterday in a statement that "there is a strong relationship between the court ruling issued on 10 December 2015, the response of Ms. Mogherini issued on August 4, 2016 and the conclusions of advocate general published on September 13, 2016, which stresses that Morocco has no sovereignty over Western Sahara, so the agreements between the latter and the European Union should not include the occupied territories of Western Sahara ".
