Nigerian President reiterates support for Saharawi people struggle

Abuja, August 20, 2016 (SPS) The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari, reiterated the firm position of his country in support of the just struggle of the Saharawi people for self-determination and independence, in a farewell ceremony in honor of the outgoing Ambassador of SADR, Oubbi Bouchraya.
"The position of support to the Saharawi people of Nigeria is part of its rooted history and traditions to support all the struggles of the African peoples, the struggle against apartheid, In spite of distance which separates Nigeria geographically from the battlefield, in its capacity as first-line State because of its effective presence in the side of its African brothers," said the Nigerian President.
President Buhari reiterated that his country's position will not change and it complies with the United Nations and African Union resolutions, which recognize the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and freedom. (SPS)
