Passing away of President Mohamed Abdelaziz: Kenya reaffirms support to self-determination of Sahrawi people

Nairobi, June 5, 2016 (SPS) – Kenyan Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has reaffirmed support to the self-determination of the people of Western, in a letter to Minster of Foreign Affairs Mohamed-Salem Ould Salek, over the passing away Tuesday of President of the Republic, Secretary General of Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz.
Following is the full text of the letter:
“I have learnt with deep sorrow the news of the passing away of H.E. Mohamed Abdelaziz, President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, on May 31, 2016.
I wish to convey to your Excellency and through you to the family of the late President, the Sahrawi people, their legitimate representative the Polisario Front and Government of SADR our deepest condolences.
During this moment of distress and national grief, we wish to express our solidarity with the Sahrawi people and their legitimate representative, the Polisario Front, in their quest to achieving a just political solution, under the auspices of the UN-led negotiations, whose objective would be to provide for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.
