Death of Sahrawi president: Bensalah signs condolence book

Algiers, June 02, 2016 (SPS) - Speaker of the Council of the Nation Abdelkader Messahel signed Wednesday at the headquarters of the embassy of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in Algiers the condolence book, following the death of Sahrawi president Mohamed Abdelaziz.
Bensalah, who signed the condolence book on behalf of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, was accompanied by Speaker of the People's National Assembly (Lower House), Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra, and Minister of Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the Arab League Abdelkader Messahel.
"We learnt with great sorrow the death of President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz," Bensalah wrote.
"In the face of this ordeal, we offer, on behalf of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, our heartfelt condolences accompanied with deep compassion, praying the Almighty God to have mercy upon the deceased, welcome him in his Vast Paradise and assist the brotherly Sahrawi people," Bensalah stressed.
"The Sahrawi people has lost one of its brave children and symbols of the Sahrawi struggle while the Sahrawi cause witnesses a genuine advance and a great success at the African and international levels," the Bensalah stated.
"Mohamed Abdelaziz is a great activist who devoted his noble life the Sahrawi cause. He will forever remain in the memories of our two brotherly peoples, in recognition of his career marked with sacrifices," he added.
"In this difficult time, Algeria reiterates its support to the Sahrawi people's legitimate right to self-determination," the same official said.SPS
