Call for the establishment of a strategy to support victims

Chahid El Hafed (Sahrawi refugee camps), April 05, 2016 (SPS) - Several International organizations and representatives of civil society in Western Sahara called Monday to set up an international strategy to provide social, material and psychological support to victims of mines in Western Sahara and to ensure their integration in society.
 
At a conference in the Ministry of Culture on the occasion of the World Day of awareness of the dangers of mines under the theme "Fight against landmines, humanitarian action "the secretary general of the Saharawi Association of victims of mines, Aoula Lahbib, stressed the need to" find international mechanisms that can contribute to provide material and psychological support for victims of mines laid by the Moroccan occupier ".
 
He urged international organizations and associations to "provide its material support" to this category hit by a series of tragedies experienced by the Saharawi people "because of a war which he is not responsible."
 
He stressed in this regard that the Association ensured the medical care to some injured by providing prosthetic apparatus and visits victims in order to alleviate their suffering and ensure their integration in society through their involvement in projects such as the opening of small commerce or livestock in collaboration with a number of international humanitarian organizations in particular those relating the European Union (EU).
 
From her part, the Office of the Director of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Naima Layal, asserted the importance of awareness of the dangers of mines through the association of "all international players and civil society to alleviate the impact of the effects of these deadly weapons."
 
The representative of the Organization of Norwegian People's Aid, Fatma Mohamed Essaadi, which oversees since 2012 the mission of demining the liberated territories in Bir Lahlou, reiterated the determination of her ONG to clean the Sahrawi soil of these scourge, wishing expanding its mission to other areas SPS
