Cairo, March 18, 2016 (SPS) - Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal reaffirmed the support of Algeria to the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and its commitment for a settlement to the Sahrawi conflict within UN process.

“The issue of Western Sahara is in the hands of the United Nations and a political negotiation process began between the Moroccan Kingdom and the Sahrawi Republic,” said Sellal in an interview granted to the Egyptian weekly magazine "El Ahram El Arabi.”

“Faithful to its revolutionary history, Algeria has never hided its solidarity with the Sahrawi people, fighting for their right to self-determination, neither its recognition to the Sahrawi Republic as done by more than 70 States and several international organizations,” said Prime Minister.

He reaffirmed “the support of Algeria and its commitment for a UN process aimed at achieving a lasting and fair solution to this conflict, allowing the peoples of the region to focus their efforts on the socio-economic development.”

On the Algerian-Moroccan relations, Sellal said that “Morocco is a neighbouring and brotherly country with which we have different views on some issues.”SPS
