EU position on Sahrawi issue "unchanged”

Brussels, 11 March 2023 (SPS) - The European Commission reaffirmed that the position of the European Union (EU) on the conflict in Western Sahara is "known and remains unchanged", underlining its support for the efforts of the United Nations (UN) to achieve "a just political solution", in accordance with the Security Council resolutions.

President of Republic receives message of congratulations from President of Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste

Dili (Timor-Leste), 9 March 2023 (SPS) -  President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, H.E. Mr. Brahim Ghali, has received a message from the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, H.E.Mr. Jose Ramos Horta, on the occasion of the 47th, Anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic.

Zimbabwe calls for enabling the Saharawi people to determine their own destiny

Geneva (Switzerland), 08 March 2023 (SPS) - Zimbabwe called on the international community to expedite the process of enabling the Sahrawi people to determine their own destiny.
In its speech before the 52nd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Zimbabwe called for speeding up to enable the Saharawi people to determine their own destiny, expressing its strong condemnation of the continued Moroccan military occupation of Western Sahara.

Algeria calls on international community to fulfil its commitments to Sahrawi people

Geneva (Switzerland), 6 March 2023 (SPS) - The permanent representative of Algeria to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Lazhar Soualem, called on the international community on Friday, especially the United Nations, to fulfil its obligations and assume its responsibilities to Western Sahara people by ensuring their inalienable and imprescriptible right to self-determination.

SADR proclamation consecrates Sahrawi national existence

Brussels, 6 March 2023 (SPS) - The Sahrawi ambassador in charge of Europe and the European Union (EU), Oubi Bouchraya Bachir, stressed that the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic, on February 27, 1976, was "the most important step in aborting the Spanish colonial partition plan" and enshrined "the independent Sahrawi national existence, as an inescapable fact".

Human Rights Council: support for Sahrawi people's right to self-determination reaffirmed

Geneva, 5 February 2023 (SPS) - Several countries participating in the work of the 52nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, in Geneva (Switzerland), reaffirmed their strong support for the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence.
In this context, South Africa stressed its "strong support" for the struggle of the Sahrawi people for their right to self-determination and freedom, and stressed the need to "work together" to protect human rights in the occupied Western Sahara.

Minister of Foreign Affairs receives the Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Guarantees and Human Rights in the Ecuadorian Parliament

Shahid al-Hafed, 01 March 2023 (SPS) - the National Secretariat, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Sidati, received yesterday, Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Guarantees and Human Rights in the Ecuadorian Parliament, Mr. Fernando Cabascango, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting discussed the latest developments of the Sahrawi issue at all levels, especially after the resumption of the armed struggle after Morocco violated the ceasefire agreement on November 13, 2020.
