Sweden FM: It is time to organize free referendum in Western Sahara

Stockholm, 10 January 2021 (SPS) - Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde called for (the organization) for a free self-determination referendum in Western Sahara, welcoming the recent statements by former US national security adviser, John Bolton in which he criticized the recognition of Morocco's alleged "sovereignty" over Western Sahara, in exchange for the normalization with Israel.

Algiers, 9 January 2020 (SPS) - Ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in Algeria, Abdelkader Taleb Omar said Thursday that the Moroccan regime has received "successive slaps" from the international community "following its transgression of international legality and its attempts to impose the fait-accompli policy in Western Sahara, whose UN resolutions affirm the right of its people to self-determination.

Western Sahara: US researcher foresees Biden’s retraction on proclamation of Trump

Washington, Jan, 06 2021 (SPS)-  American researcher and analyst Doug Bandow, also former special assistant to president Ronald Reagan, dubbed “real aggression” the proclamation of Trump about the recognition of Morocco’s alleged sovereignty over Western Sahara, foreseeing the return of Biden Direction to Washington’s initial position.
Trump’s proclamation doesn’t change the nature of the Sahrawi cause according to the international law, wrote the researcher in an article published by the American media.

EU: Western Sahara, Morocco are two separate territories

Brussels, Jan, 05 2021 (SPS)-The designation of Western Sahara and the Kingdom of Morocco as two separate territories under an ongoing agreement between the European Union and Morocco is "an important step forward," said Tuesday the Frente POLISARIO, which welcomed the fact that the position adopted in December by the outgoing U.S. president on Western Sahara has not had any effect on European countries.

Egypt denies plans to open a consulate in occupied Western Sahara

Washington, 4 January 2021 (SPS) - Egypt denied on Saturday that it intends to open a diplomatic representation in Western Sahara, refuting rumours relayed by Moroccan media.
"Egypt's position remains unchanged on the western Sahara issue and it is aligned with UN resolutions calling for a referendum allowing Sahrawis the choice to be under Moroccan rule or regain their independence," Rokha Hassan, a member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA), told the Washington-based news website Al-Monitor.

SPLA continues attacks on Moroccan military bases

Bir Lahlou, 4 January 2021 (SPS) - Units of the Sahrawi Poeple’s Liberation Army (SPLA) continued, on Friday and Saturday, their attacks targteing the Moroccan military forces, behind the wall of shame, said Saturday the Sahrawi Defence Ministry in a Communiqué.
In its military statement n 51, the ministry said that the "Sahrawi Army on Saturday targeted positions of the Moroccan occupation army in the zone of Lemkiteb (sector of Houza), the zone of Emguelli El Guaa (sector of Emguella)".

War in Western Sahara: Moroccan army in face of logistical difficulties

Rabat, 4 January 2021 (SPS) - Researcher, journalist and former agent of the Moroccan intelligence services Farid Boukas spoke on his Facebook page of a lack of confidence and serenity within the command of the Moroccan army after the outbreak of the 2nd war in Western Sahara.
Boukas used the “N24” web channel to report the recruitment of 600 agents in charge of conducting campaigns on social networks vis-à-vis the Sahrawi cause inside and outside Morocco. 

Sahrawi people "frustrated" by UN inaction in face of Moroccan violations

Sydney, 3January 2021 (SPS) - The Sahrawi people are frustrated by the UN's inaction in the face of Morocco's recurring violations of the ceasefire agreement, said the Polisario Front representative in Australia, Kamal Fadel, deploring the obstruction of the process of resolving the conflict in Western Sahara.

HRW: Morocco implements same methods as Israel in attempt to strengthen Western Sahara’s occupation

Washington, 2 January 2021 (SPS) - Executive Director of Human Rights Watch (HRW) Kenneth Roth underlined that Morocco implements the same methods used by the Israeli occupier against the Palestinians to attempt to strengthen its occupation of Western Sahara. 
Kenneth Roth underlined Thursday on his Twitter that Morocco’s treatment of the Sahrawi people in the occupied territories of Western Sahara is in a way the same treatment reserved by Israel to the Palestinians.

Sahrawi army continues attacks on Morocco's occupation forces

Bir Lahlou (Liberated Territories), 2 January 2021 (SPS) - The units of the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) "carried out Wednesday and Thursday new attacks against positions of Morocco's occupation army along the wall of shame," the ministry of National Defense said in a statement.
In its military communiqué No 49, the ministry said that "on Tuesday, December 29, the advanced units of the Sahrawi People’s Liberation Army focused their attacks on the trenches of the Moroccan occupation army in the Gleib Ans area in the Aousserd sector."

UN adopts recent AU decision on Western Sahara as official document

New York (United Nations), 2 January 2021 (SPS) - The chairman of the UN Security Council, South Africa's representative to the United Nations, has made public an official letter from his country, which holds the current presidency of the African Union, including the list of the resolutions adopted by the 14th AU extraordinary summit, and the new decision on Western Sahara conflict.
