National Council concludes legislative session

9 June School (Shaheed El-Hafed), July 30, 2017 (SPS) - The National Council concluded Sunday its legislative session, during which it reviewed and ratified projects and proposals of laws.
The legislative session, which continued for three months, was characterized by a responsible debate and a sincere desire to promote national action and to realize aspirations of the National Council in the midst of the battle of institutional construction undertaken by the Saharawi State.

President of Republic sends condolences to President Butaflika on passing away of former Prime Minister Redhda Malek

Bir-Lahlu, July 30, 2017 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Gali, has sent his condolences to Algerian President Abdelaziz Buteflika on the occasion of the passing away of former Prime Minister Redha Malek.
"We learnt with great sadness and sorrow the news of the passing away of former Prime Minister Redha Malek, on Saturday, July 29, 2017," lamented the president of the republic.

Council of Grand Canary rejects decision to delimit maritime borders between Morocco and Canary Islands

Madrid, July 30, 2017 (SPS) - The Grand Canary City Council, headed by the political parties of the Canary Islands and the Socialist Party (PSOE), rejected during its plenary meeting on Friday the decision of Morocco to delimit its maritime borders off the Canary Islands by integrating the waters of Western Sahara, said the head of international solidarity, Carmelo Ramirez.

Sand plundered from Western Sahara covers beach in Canary Islands

London, July 29, 2017 (SPS) - Tauro beach in Gran Canaria (Canary Islands), once rocky, has been covered in sand illegally taken from the last African colony, Western Sahara, as noted by an investigation conducted by British newspaper the Guardian published on Saturday.
Titled “Trouble in Paradise,” the Guardian’s investigation stressed that the project to cover the rocky beach with 70,000 tons of sand was done “in breach of international law and in defiance of the last African colony, the occupied territory of Western Sahara.”

When David Silva picked up a spade on a beach in the Canary Islands last summer and started shovelling sand from a wooden box, it seemed innocuous enough.
The Manchester City and Spain football star is a local boy, and had given his valuable blessing to a beach project on Gran Canaria that promised to create new jobs with a tourism magnet complete with 500-berth marina and golf course.

President of Republic calls on AU for release of Sahrawi political prisoners

Ministers Council holds Meeting on national cause developments

Chahi El Hafed, July 26, 2017 (SPS) - The expanded Council of Ministers met on Tuesday, under the presidency of the President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Frente POLISARIO, Brahim Gali, to address the progress of the national cause and to evaluate the presidential tour, which his last leg, has been Chahid El Hafed.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers discussed the meetings with the popular bases in the framework of the presidential visit to the wilayas.

UN urged to find mechanism to monitor, protect human rights in Western Sahara

Bir Lahlou (Sahrawi Liberated Territories)- President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Secretary General of the Frente POLISARIO Brahim Gali called on the United Nations to find a mechanism to monitor and protect human rights in Western Sahara, affirming that the sentences pronounced against the political prisoners of “Gdeim Izik” group was another “proof of Morocco’s intention to continue the violation of human rights in the occupied territories in the absence of witnesses.”

Swiss Committee for the Supporting Saharawi People condemns Gdeim Izik Group unfair trial

Geneva (Switzerland) July 25, 2017 (SPS) - The Swiss Committee for the Support of the Saharawi People expressed its condemnation after the a mock trial of the Sahrawi political prisoners, known as the Gdeim Izik Group by the Moroccan occupation court, describing the trial as unfair and lacking concrete evidence.
In a statement, the committee said it deplored the July 19 arbitrary verdicts against 23 Sahrawi activists were arrested in the aftermath of the violent dismantling of the peaceful protest camp.

President of the World Peace Council rejects the sentences imposed by Morocco against Saharawi activists

Reacting to news of the extreme sentences imposed by the Moroccan authorities against a group of Saharawi activists (which include life imprisonment), the President of the World Peace Council, Socorro Gomes, has issued a statement this Sunday (23) to strongly reject the persecution of the activists and to call for the end of the occupation of Western Sahara by the Kingdom of Morocco. Swedish commission of solidarity with Sahrawi people denounces sentences against Gdeim Izik

Stockholm (Sweden), July 23, 2017 (SPS) - The Swedish commission of solidarity with the Sahrawi people denounced the iniquitous sentences against the Sahrawi political prisoners of "Gdeim Izik" group, affirming that the trial and according to the testimony of international observers who attended the trial was just a “pure staging” and that the sentences were pronounced on the basis of confessions extracted under torture and false testimony.
