Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) November 10, 2016 (SPS) – the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sahrawi Republic, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, on Thursday, has held a press conference at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa to clarify Sahrawi position of Morocco's bid to join the African Union.
 

Danish Companies and Pension Funds divest from Companies illegally exploiting the natural resources of occupied Western Sahara

Copenhagen (Denmark) Nov 10, 2016 (SPS) - The Danish pension Fund Pensam has dropped recently its investments from companies illegally present in the occupied parts of Western Sahara; the Australian Incitec Pivot Company fertilizer manufacturer that illegally imports phosphate from the last colony in Africa and the Swiss Company Glencore, which is key player in Morocco's oil exploration in Western Sahara and operates hence against international law.

Polisario condemns expulsion of Pan-African Parliament deputy speaker from Marrakech

Madrid (Spain), November 09, 2016 (SPS) - Saharawi delegation in Spain has voiced the strongest protest and condemned the provocative action against Saharawi MP and deputy speaker of the Pan-African Parliament, Souielma Beirouk, who has been expelled upon her arrival in the airport of Marrakech, by the Moroccan authorities, the Polisario Front mission in Madrid said Tuesday in a statement. 

New Saharawi ambassador to Nigeria presents his Credentials to the Nigerian Foreign Ministry

Abuja (Nigeria), November 08, 2016 (SPS) - The new Saharawi ambassador Mr. Malainin Sadik has presented a copy of his credentials as SADR Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Nigeria to the Acting Director General of Protocol of Nigeria.
 
The ceremony took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the two sides reviewed the relations of cooperation and solidarity between the two countries and peoples and the means to strengthen them.
 

UNMS condemns Pan-African Parliament Vice-President forced and arbitrary deportation

Chahid El Hafed, November 08, 2016 (SPS) - Moroccan authorities have arbitrarily deported Suelma Beiruk, vice-president of the Pan-African Parliament, who was forced to leave the airport in Marrakesh on a flight to Casablanca where she remained for hours until she was forced to take another flight to Oran in Algeria.
 

Sahrawi government: Africa does not need Morocco's experience in "invasion, aggression and expansion"

"Africa does not need the experience of Morocco Kingdom's, which blocks international resolutions and efforts to reach a peaceful and just solution allowing the organization of a self-determination referendum for the Sahrawi people," the government of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) stressed in a communiqué.

Saharawi delegation ends sensitization visit about Saharawi issue in Denmark

Copenhagen, Nov. 6, 2016 (SPS) The Sahrawi delegation that took part in the international conference in Copenhagen, concluded a sensitization visit about the Sahrawi issue in Denmark, during which they had several meetings and contacts with government institutions and NGOS.
The meetings focused on the latest developments of the Saharawi issue and the increased systematic repression of the Moroccan state in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, in blatant violation of international human rights conventions.

Western Sahara: UN committee exposes Morocco's plunder of natural resources

Washington (United States), Nov. 5, 2016 (SPS) - UN human rights expert committee has denunciated Morocco's plunder of Western Sahara's natural resources, expressing deep concerns over the deadlock Saharawis' self-determination process has reached.
The human rights committee of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) published Monday its sixth periodical report on Morocco, in which it calls into question the illegal exploitation of Western Sahara's resources.

Portuguese President confirms situation in Western Sahara deserves more attention

Lisbon (Portugal), Nov.  5, 2016 (SPS) - Portuguese President Mr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa stressed that the situation in Western Sahara deserves greater attention from the Government of the Portuguese Republic.   
It came in a response to a letter from Adala UK in Portugal, in which it demanded the release of Sahrawi political prisoners in particular the group of Gdeim Izik and enabling the people of Western Sahara to exercise their right to self-determination.   

RSF calls on Morocco to end reporting restrictions in Western Sahara

UN Agencies In Algeria Appeal For Continued Food Assistance To Western Saharan Refugees

 Algiers, November 03, 2016 (SPS) – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the UN Children’s fund (UNICEF) is appealing for continued donor support for refugees from Western Sahara living in Algeria. The three agencies say that insufficient funding makes a cut in basic food rations imminent.

Copenhagen International Conference on Western Sahara issue calls for the decolonization of the last colony in Africa
