Considerable material damage in El Aaiun Camps following the recent heavy rains (SRC)

ChahId El Hafed, August 18, 2016 (SPS) -  The heavy rain that was recently hit  the camps of El Aaiun in the Saharawi refugee camps has caused considerable damage to many tents and adobe houses of Saharawi refugees.
 
According to a statement of Saharawi Red Crescent (SRC), rains has left 11 people injured, one of them in serious condition and 6 of them were evacuated to the hospital in the Algerian city of Tindouf.

Sahrawi Red Crescent urgently appeals for urgent humanitarian assistance to refugees following recent rains in Aaiun and Dakhla camps

Chahid El Hafed,  August 16, 2016 (SPS) - Sahrawi Red Crescent (SRC)  appealed donor countries, international organizations and non-governmental organizations to provide  urgent humanitarian aid to Sahrawi refugees, following the heavy rains witnessed the camps on Monday, especially the Wilayas of El Aaiun an Dakhla.
 
The Saharawi organization recalled in a statement, a copy of which obtained by SPS "donor countries that its food stocks is running out, empty of tents and other equipment. "

Wilaya of Awsard (Refugee camps), August 15, 2016 (SPS) – Prime  Minister, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, attended on Sunday the closing ceremony of Youth and Students Program of Summer 2016, in the Wilaya of Awsard, refugee camps, along with members of the National Secretariat and government as well as the regional committee in charge of the program.
In his speech on the occasion, Mr. Taleb Omar praised the efforts exerted by all those in charge of the Youth and Students Program of Summer 2016.

Sahrawi unionist buried by Moroccan forces without family's consent

London, August 11, 2016 (SPS)  - The British organization in charge of promoting human rights in Western Sahara "Adala UK" affirmed that Sahrawi unionist Brahim Saika was buried by Moroccan forces without his family's consent, and without explaining the reason of his death, calling for an urgent action from the UN to denounce this "unjustifiable and inhuman act."

Chahid El Hafed, August 09, 2016 (SPS) -  The President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic Brahim Gali said that the armed fight is not a threat or a political mean of pressure but a national duty for all Sahrawis.
 
“Armed fight is not a threat or a political mean of pressure. It is simply a national duty for all Sahrawis and a right recognized by the United Nations to colonized countries and peoples,” said the Sahrawi president, also Secretary General of the Polisario Front on Monday, in a interview with Italian newspaper La Stampa.

PAP calls on UN to set date for self-determination referendum in Western Sahara

Midrand (Johannesburg), August 6, 2016 (SPS) - The Pan African Parliament (PAP) has called on the United Nations to set a date for the holding of the referendum in Western Sahara to allow the Sahrawi people to decide their own future. 
“Join the African Union in calling on the United Nations to set a date for the holding of the referendum in Western Sahara to allow the people of Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa, to decide on their right to self determination,” said a communiqué sanctioning  the 8th Annual Conference of Speakers of African Parliaments.

Chahid El Hafed, August 05, 2016 (SPS) - The head of the Summer University of Polisario Front and Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic´ executives in its seventh edition, Mr. Mohamed Lamin Bouhali  has asked the participants to develop thier skills and to benefit from Algerian experience in various fields during interview today with Sahrawi National Radio.
 The University will organize from 09 to 22 August with the participation of more than 400 executives, 30 of them coming from the Occupied Territories, said SU head.
