Namibia “strongly” supports Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination

Algiers, 29 February 2016 (SPS) - Deputy Prime Minister of Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah underlined Monday, in Algiers, that her country “strongly” supports the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.

 

Following her discussions with Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra, the Namibian Deputy Prime Minister said that her country “strongly supports the Sahrawi people’s right” to decide on their fate.

Dakhla (Refugee Camps)- Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar said he hoped UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's visit to the region would manage to get Morocco to respect UN decisions in favour of the Western Sahara people's self-determination.

 

In a statement to APS, Taleb Omar said Saharawi people "expect the UN chief to implement the content of his report 2014, in which he stressed the need to present new options if no progress is made in 2015."

 

Western Sahara: European deputies call on Mogherini not to participate in Crans Montana Forum

Brussels, 29 February 2016 (SPS) - Twenty four European deputies from four different parliamentary groups called on, Friday, the high Representative of the European Union (EU), Federica Mogherini, to suspend any official participation in the annual meeting of Crans Montana Forum, scheduled for March in Dakhla, in the Western Sahara territories occupied by Morocco.

Dakhla (Refugee Camps), 28 February 2016 (SPS) - Algerian Minister of Mujahideen Tayeb Zitouni on Saturday, in the Saharawi refugee camp Dakhla, stressed Algeria's firm position over the Saharawi cause.

 

Speaking on the sidelines of the festivities commemorating the 40th anniversary of the SADR (Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic) proclamation, and which have been attended by the delegations of more than 22 countries.

Abdelaziz Bouteflika affirmed that Algeria will “spare no effort” to bring its “support” to the United Nations Secretary General’s proposal to revive the direct negotiations between Morocco and the Polisario Front to come to a “just and sustainable” solution guaranteeing the Sahrawi people their right to self-determination.

Dakhla (refugee camps), 27 February 2016 (SPS) -Delegations from 22 countries, including that of Algeria led by Minister of Mujahedeen Tayeb Zitouni attended Saturday the official ceremony commemorating the 40th anniversary of the proclamation of the Saharawi Arab Republic Democratic (SADR), held in Dakhla (Sahrawi refugee camps).

 

President of the Saharawi Republic Mohamed Abdelaziz gave the kick-off ceremony of this event, in which delegations representing international organizations have partaken.

Shahid Al Hafed, February 27, 2016 (SPS) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, reminded Friday, in the Sahrawi refugee camps, the United Nations of their mission, which is to organize the referendum in Western Sahara.

 

“The referendum on self-determination in Western Sahara must be organized. We expect the United Nations to take their responsibility. A special mission, which is the MINURSO, was sent for this purpose,” said Ould Sadek.
