SADR committed to implement AU resolutions on revitalization of ECOSOC

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), August 18, 2015 (SPS) - Prime Minister Abdelkader Taleb Omar on Tuesday reiterated the commitment of the Saharawi Republic (SADR), a founding member of the African Union, to promptly implement the Union’s resolutions on the revitalization of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC).


In a meeting with the Secretary General of Saharawi Women Union Ms. Fatma Mehdi, the minister called for the creation of the Saharawi national committee of the ECOSOCC, adding that this will constitute “an effective tool” to encourage the participation of all components of Saharawi civil society in the African one in order to achieve the objectives of AU Agenda 2063.


The meeting examined the latest developments on the work of ECOSOCC and the role played by Saharawi organizations in this regard.


It also discussed ways to revive the role of Saharawi civil society for a better participation in the making of continental policies and achieve development, justice and peace in Africa. (SPS)
