Moroccan forces intervene violently against Sahrawi demonstrators in occupied El-Aaiun

El-Aaiun (Occupied Territories), 16 April 2017 (SPS) - Moroccan forces intervened Saturday evening against several Saharawi demonstrators who came out in solidarity with Saharawi political prisoners and demanded their immediate release.

The Moroccan forces, in the early hours of Saturday, started the siege of Smara Street and the streets leading to it, to prevent Sahrawi citizens from passing, before they intervened.

Western Sahara: Gdeim Izik detainees refuse Medical expertise conducted by Moroccan staff

Sale (Morocco), 9 April 2017 (SPS) - The Sahrawi political prisoners of Gdeim Izik group have refused the expertise requested by the Court of Appeal of Salé, conducted by a Moroccan commission.

This is contrary to the Istanbul protocol which stipulates that the medical expertise must be impartial, said the Defence League of Sahrawi detainees.

Guelmim (South of Morocco) 8 April 2017 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Committee for the Defense of Human Rights in the city of Guelmim, South of Morocco, reported that the family of the Sahrawi political prisoner, Secretary-General of the Committee, Abdel-Khaliq al-Markhi, informed that their son was isolated Friday in a clinic by the Bouzkarn prison administration, without knowing the real motives of this action.

President of Republic chairs meeting of monitoring committee on situation of prisoners of Gdeim Izik

El-Aaiun (Occupied Territories) 2 April 2017 (SPS) -  The Moroccan forces surrounded Saturday El-Aaiun, the capital of the occupied Western Sahara, by moving in massive military equipment from different regions, stationed in the outskirts and center of the city, said the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.  

Adala UK: alarming increase of repression in demonstrations in Western Sahara

Freedom of expression in Western Sahara muzzled by Morocco, denounces British NGO

London, 18 March 2017 (SPS) - The freedom of expression in Western Sahara is muzzled by Morocco which attacks journalists and human rights activists, denounced the British organization for human rights defence in Western Sahara, Adala UK.

The NOG wrote on its website this week that the Moroccan regime persecutes and imprisons journalists because of their political opinions, the same false charges for which human rights defenders are accused.
