Berlin, 16, Feb 2022 (SPS) –The Coordinator for German-Arab Relations in the German Parliament, Abd Al Masih al Shami, reiterated Germany's position on Western Sahara as "untouched and unalterable" and cannot be subject to blackmail by any country, since it is based on international legality and respect for human rights.
In response to the attempts of some media related to the Moroccan Majzen, who allege that Germany will "change" its position on the conflict in Western Sahara in favor of Morocco, after the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the adviser of the German Parliament said: "I do not think there will be a substantial change in the German position regarding the conflict, even with the recent rapprochement between the two countries and the resumption of their diplomatic relations."
Mr. Al-Shami stressed “the need to resolve the Saharawi issue diplomatically, in a fair manner that takes into account the legitimate rights of the Saharawi people and pointed out that Moroccan intransigence will only lead to greater tension and even a dangerous escalation of the crisis in the region".
