Shahid Al Hafed, 16 January 2022 (SPS) -  The chief negotiator, head of the secretariat of the political organization of the Polisario, Front Khatri Addouh, affirmed Saturday that the UN must seek a solution for a peaceful settlement, by reviewing the reasons for the failure of all the steps taken, all the processes initiated and the efforts of the special envoys of the UN Secretary General.
In a statement to APS, following his meeting with the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General, Staffan De Mistura, Mr. Addouh specified that the process of peaceful settlement requires the United Nations, the international community and the Security Council to seek a solution based on the reasons for the failure of all the steps and processes undertaken, and the efforts of the special envoys of the UN Secretary General.
He indicated that "the failure of all the efforts in the past is due to the stubbornness of the Moroccan regime and its refusal to respect international legitimacy and the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence, in complicity with influential countries in the UN Security Council.
The Saharawi official stressed that "De Mistura's visit comes at an important time when the situation is, completely different from what it was two years ago".
"We are currently in a situation of military confrontation and deadlock in the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict, which has led the UN to try to relaunch the process to find a just and definitive solution to the question of decolonization of Western Sahara.
