Algerian Special Envoy for Western Sahara slams the lies of the Moroccan delegate in Geneva

Submitted on

Geneva (Switzerland), Sept 22, 2021 (SPS) - Algeria's Special Envoy for Western Sahara and the Maghreb, Omar Belani, Monday condemned the "lies" and "flagrant manipulation" of the Moroccan ambassador in Geneva, after his statements about the alleged presence of Lebanese "Hezbollah" instructors in the Sahrawi refugee camps.
In response to a letter from the Moroccan ambassador to the 48th Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Omar Belani said that the statements of some Moroccan diplomats are "mere lies drawn up tirelessly, especially when they feel the pressure of urgent appeals from the groups that support the legitimate cause of the people of Western Sahara. "
"They are masters in the art of recycling and inventing the shameful lies of their minister, who invented, in May 2018, the horrible story about the Hezbollah instructors, which was in fact denied," said the Algerian official, recalling that, at the time, "the Kingdom of Morocco was looking for an excuse to announce the severance of diplomatic relations with a Middle Eastern country and thus reap the benefits of some regional and non-regional partners", highlighted Mr. Belani.
The Algerian Special Envoy concluded by saying that "the rope of lies is short and the Moroccan ambassador's statements are trivial", noting that "the mobilization in favor of the Sahrawi people in Geneva will gain greater momentum to denounce the systematic and deliberate oppression, as well as the human rights violations in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
