Submitted on

Bir lahlou, July 29, 2021 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the FRENTE POLISARIO, Mr. Brahim Ghali, sent a letter this Wednesday to the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Antonio Guterres, in which “draws his attention to the seriousness of the human rights situation in the occupied areas of Western Sahara, as well as to the suffering of the Sahrawis at the hands of the Moroccan occupation forces that continue with their repressive practices with impunity, permanent mistreatment and harassment that are aggravated by inattention, marginalization and neglect ”.
Through this letter, I would like to urgently draw your attention and that of the members of the Security Council to the increasingly alarming situation in the occupied areas of Western Sahara, due to the war of terror and retaliation carried out by the Moroccan occupying state against Sahrawi civilians, human rights activists, journalists and bloggers, who are exposed on a daily basis to all kinds of atrocities, savage and inhuman practices ”.
On the other hand, the President's letter also calls for “the urgent and rapid intervention of the UN to put an end to the suffering of the Sahrawi political prisoners and their families, as well as guaranteeing their immediate and unconditional release so that they can meet with their relatives and loved ones ”.
