President of Republic arrives in Addis Ababa for 33rd AU Summit of Heads of State

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) 8 February 2020 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, arrived at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, accompanied by an important delegation, to take part in the 33rd African Union (AU) Summit of Heads of State, held Sunday and Monday at the AU Headquarters, under the theme of the year 2020, “Silencing the Guns: Creating Conductive Conditions for Africa’s Development.”
Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, President Brahim Ghali and the delegation accompanying him received an official reception, by H.E Hirut Woldemariam, Minister of Science and Higher Education, and received salutations from military formations of the Ethiopian military forces and the Protocol Department of the Ethiopian Presidency. 
The Summit kicked off on Thursday with the 36th ordinary session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council. In the two-day session, the AU Executive Council considered to draft agenda and the draft decisions and declarations of the assembly with appropriate recommendations for consideration by the AU Heads of State. 
The Summit will witness Egypt hand over the presidency of the African Union (AU) to South Africa. (SPS)
