Bir Lahlou (liberated territories), 2 November 2019 (SPS) - President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Brahim Ghali on Thursday said that the Sahrawi people have proudly learned the lessons of resistance and sacrifice from the Algerian people and the 1st November Revolution until the achievement of their legitimate objectives.
In a congratulation message to Head of State Abdelkader Bensalah on the occasion of the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious War of Liberation, President Ghali said that the Sahrawi people, "who are still struggling with the same determination and for the same noble objectives, have learnt with pride from the Algerian people and the Revolution of 1 November the lessons of resistance and sacrifice until the achievement of their legitimate goals.”
The Sahrawi President said in his message that the Algerian people "have led a revolution among the best of the 20th century, even the best in history, and have become an example followed by all oppressed peoples in Africa, Latin America and worldwide, in terms of emancipation and self-determination, especially since the Algerian people have given lessons, yesterday and today, to the peoples of the world, to cling to freedom, democracy and peace and to build a state of law and institutions.”
In this regard, Ghali stressed that the Algerian people had decided to embark on the path of the Liberation War of 1 November 1954 to regain their sovereignty and snatch their right to freedom and independence at the cost of great sacrifice.
After a struggle of more than seven years during which the Algerian people paid a heavy price of more than one and a half million martyrs, millions of wounded, disabled and displaced, the French colonizer was defeated, stated Ghali in his message.
Despite the glaring gap between the National Liberation Army (ALN), the French army and NATO forces, the brave Mujahedeen, supported by the people, resolute and armed with strong will, were able to defeat enemy forces as demonstrations spread both inside and outside the country.
At the end of his message, Ghali reaffirmed the will of the Sahrawi leaders to move forward in terms of strengthening the bonds of fraternity and friendship and alliance between the two Algerian and Sahrawi revolutions and between the two peoples.
