UK NGOs in solidarity with Saharawi cause organize a conference on HHRR situation IN OOTT of Western Sahara

London, June 26, 2019 (SPS) – The UK NGOs in solidarity with the Saharawi cause organized a conference on the situation of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, as well as a series of cultural activities, exhibitions, poetry, music, documentaries and debates.
The special guest at the event is the well-known human rights defender, Minatu Haidar, symbol of peaceful resistance, victim of forced disappearance, former political prisoner, internationally recognized activist, nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and winner of several international awards .
Minatu Haidar presented a comprehensive exhibition on the Sahrawi conflict highlighting the deplorable situation of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara screening  graphic evidence of the constant violations of human rights, where the Sahrawi woman is the victim of torture, harassment, persecution, verbal and physical abuse, among many repressive methods used by the Moroccan occupation authorities in order to isolate the territory and impose an informative and military blockade under the eyes of the Minurso which lacks the mandate to protect and to report on the human right situation on the territory.
It is worth noting that the event was chaired by the professor at the University of London, Birkbek, facilitated by the coordinator of the Committee of solidarity with the Saharawi people, Beccy Allen and organized by the Western Sahara Campaign, ADALAUK, Olive Branch Arts and Sandlast. The event was attended by the Frente POLISARIO representative to the United Kingdom, Hamdi Bueha and a large audience of supporters of the Saharawi cause, professors, artists, students, members of the Saharawi community in the United Kingdom and a large audience of supporters of the Saharawi cause.
