Western Sahara: Algeria "positively appreciates" UN envoy's briefing on his recent visit

Algiers, August 10, 2018 (SPS) - Algeria "has positively appreciated" the briefing by the United Nations Secretary General's personal envoy for Western Sahara, Horst Kohler, before the United Nations Security Council on his recent visit to the region, said Thursday the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelaziz Benali Cherif.
This briefing was "favourably welcomed" by all members of the UN Security Council, he said.
In reply to a question by APS on Algeria's reaction to the UN envoy's briefing on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry's spokesperson "reiterated Algeria's support to the UN's efforts and to the UN Secretary General's envoy for Western Sahara, Horst Kohler."
Benali Cherif also underlined "Algeria's readiness to cooperate, as it has always done, with the UN for the settlement of the Western Sahara issue, in accordance with the international law and Security Council's resolutions, which guarantee the right of Sahrawi people to self-determination."SPS
