Following latest events in occupied territories, President of Republic calls on UN for protection of Sahrawi population

Bir Lehlu (Liberated Territories), July 2, 2018 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario front, Brahim Ghali, on Monday called on the United Nation for the protection and defense of the Sahrawi population in the occupied cities of Western Sahara from the unleashed violence and repression against Sahrawi protesters.
In a letter to UN Secretary General, António Guterres, the President of the Republic indicate that on Thursday the Moroccan forces launched a violent repression against peaceful Sahrawi demonstrators, especially the occupied cities of El Aaiún and Samara.
He drew the attention of the UN Secretary General that the Moroccan forces committed atrocious violations against Sahrawi civilians who demonstrate peacefully, on the eve of the visit of the UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy, Horst Koehler, in a region under the responsibility of the United Nations.
The President of the Republic held the Moroccan state accountable for the consequences of the brutal repression, urging the United Nations to intervene urgently to put an end to oppression and serious violations committed by Morocco. (SPS)
