Submitted on

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) January 22, 2018 (SPS) – The 35th Ordinary Session of the AU Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) has officially opened Monday at the African Union Headquarters with the participation of a Sahrawi delegation led by Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Lamine Baali, in preparation for the next session of the AU Executive Council.
The draft report submitted by the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR) calls on the African Union to work to complete the mission of the Commission and visit the occupied parts of the territory of the Sahrawi Republic, which was announced in 2012, and was not completed because of the obstruction of the Kingdom of Morocco, informed sources told SPS.
The African Union will endorse decisions calling on the international community to contribute to improving the difficult conditions of the Sahrawi refugees who are waiting for a referendum on self-determination under the auspices of the United Nations, the sources added.
The 35th Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) is held on January 22-23, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, under the theme of “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa's Transformation.” (SPS)
