Submitted on

London (United Kingdom), Nov 22, 2017 (SPS) - The British Government reiterated its support for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination on the basis of the principal of the United Nations Charter.
In response to a question written by the deputy, member of the Parliamentary Group of Friends of Western Sahara, Alan Brown, the Minister of State in charge of Commonwealth affairs, Alistair Burt, has reaffirmed London's support for the "efforts" of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Western Sahara, for seeking a "just and lasting" political solution to the conflict in Western Sahara.
The British minister added that the solution must be "mutually acceptable" by the two parties, the Frente POLISARIO and the Kingdom of Morocco, and must guarantee the right of the Saharawi people to exercise their self-determination, in accordance with the rules and spirit of the Charter. SPS
